Intercollegiate Studies Institute 2011/2012 Graduate Fellowships

THE RICHARD M. WEAVER FELLOWSHIP
The Weaver Fellowship supports academics dedicated to liberal education broadly considered. The Weaver Fellowship pays tuition, a stipend of $5,000, and a $1,000 book award.

THE WESTERN CIVILIZATION FELLOWSHIP
The Western Civilization Fellowship provides each recipient $20,000 or dissertation work related to the intellectual, economic, political, social, or religious heritage of Western Civilization.

THE SALVATORI FELLOWSHIP
Salvatori Fellowship is designed for graduate students who are exploring both the principles of the Founding Fathers and the culture that formed their convictions and ideals. The Fellowship provides $10,000 to each recipient for graduate work related to the American Founding.

THE BACHE RENSHAW FELLOWSHIP
The Renshaw Fellowship, awards each recipient $12,000 toward doctoral study in education that will influence the discipline with the ideas, values, and institutions that are fundamental to America's Western tradition.

ISI Scholarship Essay Competition

Intercollegiate Studies Institute's (ISI) 2010-2011 Scholarship Essay Competition is open. The topic this year is "Totalitarianism, Tweets, and Turf: Human Community in an Age of Techno-Globalism." With scholarship prizes ranging from $500 to $2,500, this is a unique reading and writing opportunity for undergraduate students.

Those who wish to participate in the contest must register by Friday, December 3, 2010 and submit their essays by Friday, February 18, 2011.

Fulbright Summer Institute in Newcastle, UK

The US-UK Fulbright Commission is pleased to announce the opening of its competition for its inaugural UK Summer Institute at Newcastle University. The five week cultural and academic programme is open to US students aged 18 and over who have completed no more than two years of University level study in any subject.

The Summer Institute will cover the majority of the participant costs. This includes round-trip airfare from the US to the UK, tuition and fees at the University, accommodation and social programme, subsistence e.g. food and drink and visa processing.

Sacred Heart Univ. Graduate Program Info Session

Newark Montclair Urban Teacher Residency Program

Montclair State University is pleased to announce the Newark Montclair Urban Teacher Residency Program (NMUTRP), an apprenticeship-based program of study for individuals with a deep commitment to urban teaching. This Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program has two tracks: P-3/K-5 certification with dual certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities; and secondary, content area certification in mathematics or science.

The program pays full tuition and a stipend of $15,000 per semester.

Hispanic Business Council Scholarship

The Hispanic Business Council Scholarship Foundation of New Jersey has applications for current and college-bound Hispanic students for 2010-2011. The application is available here. Scholarships of up to $4000 for students who maintain a 3.0 gpa are available.

All applications must be postmarked by March 12, 2010.

Kaplan Test Prep Scholarship

Kaplan Test Prep is offering a scholarship for Ramapo students interested in taking the LSAT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, DAT, or OAT. The winner will receive a FREE Kaplan Test Prep class. Housing and Community Development Scholars Program

This is a wonderful summer internship program that provides $5000 in stipends and wages to each student chosen to participate. The program takes an interdisciplinary approach to urban planning and neighborhood revitalization.

Fulbright MTVu Scholarship Competition

The deadline has been extended to March 1, 2010 for the Fulbright MTVu Scholarship Competition. Info can be found here. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to pursue projects around music as a cultural force of expression. In 2009-2010, there were 87 applicants for 4 grants.

Autry Fellowship

Applications are now being accepted for the 2010-2011 Autry Fellowship. An Autry Fellow will work on a variety of issues related to education, economic development, labor force preparation, income enhancement and poverty reduction. For more info, go here or here.

Summer Research Initiative

The University of Maryland, College Park is advertising a summer research initiative program aimed at juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a doctorate in the social, behavioral, and economic sciences. The program is 8 weeks long from June 1 - July 23, 2010. Students will be provided round-trip airfare, meals, room and board, and a $2700 stipend. The application deadline is February 12, 2010. Environmental Consortium of Hudson Valley

The Environmental Consortium of Hudson Valley Colleges and Universities would like to announce two scholarships with an environmental focus. These scholarships are ONLY available to students in the College Honors Program. Information on the scholarship is available here.
